What is Selvedge Denim?
Selvedge (self-edge) denim is woven on vintage shuttle looms. The edges of the fabric roll around a shuttle, creating a tightly woven, clean, non-fraying edge with an iconic colored identification line (usually red or white) visible when you cuff your jeans.
How do I wash my raw denim?
Wear your denim as long as possible before the first wash (3–6 months is standard). When washing, turn the jeans inside out, soak in a tub of lukewarm water with gentle wool/denim detergent, rinse thoroughly with cold water, and hang dry away from direct sunlight. Never machine dry.
Will my jeans shrink?
Most of our denim is sanforized (pre-shrunk through steam and heat treatment), which limits shrinkage to approximately 1–3%. The waist will typically stretch out about 0.5 to 1 inch with regular wear as cotton yarns relax.
